Privacy policy

Volt Zero (volt0.ai, app.volt0.ai, api.volt0.ai, library.volt0.ai and mcp.volt0.ai) is a circuit board design tool. This page says what we collect, why, where it is kept, and how to have it deleted. Questions and requests: support@volt0.ai.

This website

volt0.ai counts visits and clicks with product analytics (PostHog, United States) sent through our own domain. It sets no cookies and keeps nothing in your browser's storage, so it cannot recognise you across visits. Analytics providers see the page, the referrer, a coarse location derived from the IP address and the browser type.

The web app

• Your projects stay in your browser (its storage, or a folder you open) unless you choose otherwise. We do not keep them.
• The built-in assistant uses a model provider and an API key you enter. The key is kept in your browser and sent only to that provider, together with what the assistant needs from your project. That provider's own policy applies.
• Prices and parts. When you ask for a manufacturing quote, the board's fabrication files (Gerber and drill files) are sent through api.volt0.ai to our fabrication partner to price them. Part searches send the search terms.
• Routing on Volt's servers. Routing runs in your browser unless you choose "On Volt's servers" (it needs you signed in). Then, for each routing, placing or fill, the board's files are sent to mcp.volt0.ai, computed on our servers (Cloudflare) and the result sent back to your browser; the files are not stored. The job is rate-limited by IP address and account.
• Sign-in in the app is optional, needed only to route on Volt's servers, and handled by WorkOS. The session is kept in the browser tab; our servers receive only an account id from it.
• Component library. Footprints and 3D models are downloaded from library.volt0.ai; the requests carry what any web request does (IP address, browser).

Volt Zero in AI assistants (mcp.volt0.ai)

• Projects. When an assistant designs a board with Volt Zero, the project's files are stored on our servers (Cloudflare, R2 and D1) so the assistant can continue on it. A project made without signing in can be reached by anyone who has its id; a signed-in person's projects only by them.
• Exports (fabrication and KiCad files) are kept for 7 days behind unguessable links, then deleted.
• Sign-in is optional and handled by WorkOS, with Google or your e-mail address. We receive an account id from it and keep it with your projects.
• Calls are rate-limited by IP address; the address is not stored with your projects.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data, show advertising, or use your designs to train models.

Service providers

Cloudflare (hosting, storage, e-mail forwarding), PostHog (website analytics), WorkOS and Google (sign-in), our fabrication partner (quotes and orders). They process data on our behalf for the purposes above.

Keeping and deleting

Projects on mcp.volt0.ai are kept until you ask us to delete them; exports for 7 days. Write to support@volt0.ai to get a copy of your data or have it deleted (your account, your projects, or a project by its id). We answer within 30 days.

Changes

We update this page when what we collect changes; the date at the top says when.
